Sedgwick Town Board Meeting
February 20, 2017

Members Present:  Alan Otsuka, Peggy Owens; Gena Kinoshita; Carole Cross, Jeanie Tarver; Peggy Raymond; Troy Kinoshita

The Sedgwick Town Board met in special session February 20, 2017 at the Town Hall, a quorum was verified and the meeting was called to order at 6:00pm by Mayor Alan Otsuka. The Agenda for the special meeting is the agenda from the February 13, 2017 regular meeting that was canceled.

Guests

Sharon Green and Anna McClary talked the board about a day care being located at the Ovid school where the auto shop was previously located. It will be a nonprofit and will enroll up to 50 children. This will benefit the whole county. They would like a donation from the town and would like a representative from the town to sit on the board with them.

Mike Sullivan from SCED gave board updates and asked for a $5,000 donation.

Rick Ingwersen asked the board about moving a railroad depot into town to save it. He also would like to set up shipping containers in Sedgwick for storage; this will be discussed at a later time.

Peggy O. moved to allow the depot into town. Jeanie seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.

Amanda from the Julesburg Advocate asked for a $215.00 donation to help support the ad in the Explore magazine. 

Gena moved to donate $215.00 to the Explore magazine ad. Peggy R seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.

Peggy R. moved to buy 3”x5” thank you for Stretesky Foundation. Peggy O. seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.

Maintenance

Highline Electric will replace the old outlets for the Christmas lights, but the town will pay for the new outlets.

Richard reported the need to put up a no-parking on Main Avenue and the Highway. Trucks are parking there making it hard to see oncoming traffic and when they turn around our road is getting torn up.

Richard will order new signs, traffic cones and new dumpsters.

Patrick talked to the board about the need for a Deputy Clerk. 

Peggy R. moved to run an ad for a Deputy Clerk. Carole seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.

 

Minutes

Corrections were made from the January 9, 2017 minutes; $93,000.00 to $9,300.00 and $40,000.00 to 4,000.00.

 

Gena moved to approve the minutes as corrected from the January 9, 2017 meeting. Peggy R. seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.

Financial/Pay Bills

Gena moved to pay the bills. Peggy R. seconded the motion. Roll call vote; motioned carried.

Old Business

Gena moved to approve on public record the consensus vote to buy a new Gator. Jeanie seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.

Gena moved to approve on public record the consensus vote to buy a new Mower. Jeanie seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.

Gena moved to hire a part time manager. Troy seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.

New Business

R Lawn was tabled until the March meeting

Gena moved to adjourn the meeting. Peggy R. seconded the motion. Voice vote; motioned carried.
